The first honeycomb tablet, Acer Iconia Tab A500 is bringing the smaller
version-A100. The screen size of the A500 is 10.1 inches whereas A100
has 7 inches display screen. This model which was supposed to be
launched in the month of May was delayed due to the technical issues
associated with the compatibility of the tablet with Honeycomb. The
device will be launched this month in U.S.; however, there is no news
about the launch of it in Asia.
The manufacturer had an issue with the production of the smaller tablet as Android 3 does not support small screens. Therefore, Android 3.2 OS which supports a smaller screen is used in A100 model. The product looks very chic and trendy with great features. The A500 and A100 have similar features but the RAM differs. It is 512MB in A100 whereas A500 has 1GB RAM. The front camera is of 2MP and the rear camera is of 5MP. The cost of this tablet would be around $300 (13, 000) which is very reasonable for a Honeycomb tablet.
The company announces that the 7 inches Honeycomb is a MediaPad. This product will be available in all Acer outlets in U.S. once its launched.
