Apple Products Designed By Jobs We Still Haven't Seen

By
Steve Jobs, the man who realized what we wanted before we understood it ourselves, has to his credit an awesome list of products which evolved the electronic consumer world at dizzying pace. Today he may not be with us, but the products like iPhone 5, new Lighting Connectors, were approved by him and Apple’s upcoming product iPad mini was waved green by Jobs. His dreams yet linger around to see light of the day, and it may fill Apple’s upcoming roadmap for couple of years to materialize them. And some of the products dreamed and designed by Jobs loom larger than others, here are 5 such incredible products we haven’t seen yet.

#5 Spaceship Campus

Steve Jobs was very active in attending WWDC (Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference) couple of months before his final days. He dreamt of building a massive new headquarters for the company; the giant of Cupertino to have its own campus called “spaceship”. As it sounds, the design is inspired by the mysterious alien flying saucers, which could fit over 12,000 Apple employees in a circular building made entirely of curved glass, with massive underground parking lot and a secrete auditorium to unveil Apple’s products, surrounded by trees along either side of the circumference.

When Jobs put forth the papers of this magnificent campus to the city council of Cupertino, a bunch of politicians didn’t stand chance to argue but give stamp of approval. The construction on this dream is believed to be starting soon, and once built it’ll be bigger than Pentagon; the Spaceship campus would be like jewel on face of earth, propagating Apple products and legends.

#4 iYacht

Steve Jobs imagination did not limit to the geek gadgets which defined exquisite design and performance, and it may seem weird if Jobs wanted to build a super yacht, but it’s true. It is designed by none other than legendary French designer Philipe Starck.

It is designed by Walter Isaacson, Jobs’ biographer as “sleek and minimalistic” and uses a special glass design by the chief engineer of Apple’s retail stores.

Stark has confirmed that the project is still likely to reach completion, and he is touch with Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs, whenever he visits California. “It’s not a project with Apple. It’s a private project that began with Steve Jobs and that has been taken over by his wife,” a spokeswoman for Starck told The Wall Street Journal

The inspiration for iYacht is apparently conceived when Jobs was on cruise from Italy to Turkey, which he described as his “best vacation”. The design is said to be repeatedly changed to accommodate tiniest details, which emulates Jobs’ niche for perfection, something which is common with other Apple products.

Isaacson says that Steve nearly cancelled the project in 2009, while battling with pancreatic cancer,”I didn’t think I would be alive when it got done,” he told Isaacson. “But that made me so sad, and I decided that working on the design was fun to do, and maybe I have a shot at being alive when it’s done.”

When iYacht final sails the seas, it would be tribute to Jobs.

#3 iCar

Jobs inclination towards cars can make a weird but curious story. He capitalized on some less known Californian law, by which he can have a car without license plates, and could exchange it every six months with identical model of his favorite automobile, Mercedes SL55 AMG. His peculiar ways about automobiles were famous, and tabloids across world carried it.

Steve Jobs eventually wanted to plunge in to car business too, according to CEO J. Crew and Apple board member Mickey Drexler, he dreamed of building an Apple-branded iCar.

“Look at the car industry; it’s a tragedy in America. Who is designing the cars?” Drexler said. “Steve’s dream before he died was to design an iCar.”  He then added”it would’ve been probably 50% of the market. Jobs never did design it.”

Though Jobs couldn’t design the iCar, he nevertheless bent on bringing out one. If Apple team embarks on to this project, never wonder the Jobs’ dream can make big inroads in to the way people drive and the way people felt about automobiles.

#2 iTV

Apple’s iTV, without a doubt is most expected and famous Apple product, which originated from Steve Jobs claim to Walter Isaacson months before he died that he finally “cracked” the TV problem. An Apple’s most serious foray in to living room, which seems to be ok with existing TVs, arousing curiosity,  how iTV can bring in change.

Apple has repeatedly been working on bringing Jobs’ vision to market. Recently the company is reaching out to cable providers to stream live TV to the living rooms, but cable industry is apparently put on alert about involving Apple in any way, trying to learn from example what Apple did to music industry and telecom industry.

The Apple’s iTV may be ‘the’ product for living room when we see what iPhone did for Smartphones, iPad for tablets, and Mac books for computers. It is not clear if Apple ever manages to bring out iTV, but if it does, it could be an ultimate realization of Job’s most dreamt product.

#1 iPad Mini

The iPad mini could be the first post-Jobs Apple product. If you remember that Steve Jobs actually took pot shot at 7 inch Android tablets, called them “tweener that sucked to use without having sandpaper to file down the digits to points,” you may think that Jobs was against mini pads which measured 7 inch. But then he even said iPod will never get video support, saying nobody would like to see video on tiny display. It was just his way of throwing off the competition. In fact he thought about 7inch mini pad,  and it was clear in recent testimony during the Samsung trial, Apple senior VP of iOS software Scott Forstall said he had turned Steve Jobs around on the idea of 7inch tablets.

Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, says he “expressed this to Steve several times since Thanksgiving and he seemed very receptive.”

So the announced iPad mini is product directly out of Jobs box of surprises.
