We released a method that allows Galaxy Camera owners to access hidden menus. While some would assume that the menus aren’t that important, there is some utility to be found inside. As Adam explains, these hidden menus can help get to things like Factory Mode where bricked users can un-brick their devices. There are some menus that don’t really matter, but there are some that are very useful:

So somehow I put my device into MODEM mode so it would try to connect to the computer as a data device instead of a camera/phone. I was seriously thinking my device was borked because I’ve been working inside it… I fixed my device with the *#7284# — Phone Utility (USB Settings) code. Both should be set to PDA.

  I spent all night trying to reenable USB on my device. Rebellos and I have been designing bootloaders and screwing with settings which are not normally accessed. So somehow I put my device into MODEM mode so it would try to connect to the computer as a data device instead of a camera/phone. I was seriously thinking my device was borked because I've been working inside it... and while it's a Samsung, it's not totally bulletproof.... So, to make matters worse, some asshole posted an invalid hidden code all over the internet to access factory mode on the Galaxy Camera.

Here's how you access factory mode and change your device between a normal camera and modem. Every other guide on the internet is wrong.

1. Install Nova Launcher from the market
2. hold on the launcher screen until a menu pops up.
3. select shortcuts
4. select Activities
5. select Factory Mode
6. Select Factory Mode FactoryCTRL
7. launch the Factory Mode shortcut you just created

8. use this thread http://pc-updates.blogspot.com/2013/10/galaxy-s3-sgh-t999-stock-supported-ussd.html to locate codes for your device.

I fixed my device with the *#7284# -- Phone Utility (USB Settings) code. Both should be set to PDA.

It is inevitable for nearly all devices with heavy development that the occasional mistake is made and a device goes down. This is commonly referred to as bricking, and there are different kinds of bricks—soft and hard. While hard bricks are nearly impossible to fix without OEM support, soft bricks can usually be brought back. With the U.S. variants of the Galaxy S III, there’s already a soft bricking problem going around. Thankfully, there’s also a fix going around.

released a solution for users who accidentally soft bricked their devices trying to flash a GSM boot image. The devices are brand new, so there’s still a question of what works and what doesn’t, and flashing a GSM boot image is apparently one of those things that doesn’t work.
Each variant has their own files, but the process is identical. Users simply need to download their phone’s stock boot image and flash it via Odin. This should fix the issue and restore the phone to working status. It should be noted that these files are not factory tarballs wherein this won’t work if you need to restore to a stock, unrooted ROM. These fix only the GSM boot image brick issue. As stated, the process is identical but the files are different so be sure you pick up the file for your variant.
