Did Apple copy the Swiss railway clock’s design?

By
Apple recently rolled out the iOS 6 update and it had a whole bunch of new features. Among them, was an all new look for the Clock app for iPad. The app now shows a sleek new clock design. However, the design isn’t Apple’s.

The Swiss Federal Railways has alleged that it owns the rights to the design and that Apple didn’t ask permission to use it. The clock was apparently designed by Hans Hilfiker, as far back as 1944. Hilfiker was an employee at Swiss Federal Railways and his design is well known in Switzerland.
They are planning to launch legal action over it, and may seek compensation. It’s a lot of controversy over something as simple as a clock.
