The new application Facebook messenger,is applicable on Apple's iPhone and other smartphones running Android operating system.
Facebook messenger can be availed for download now, it extends the chat features in Facebook's existing mobile application to add features like location-sharing, mobile photo-sharing, and most important of all instant messaging to friends or groups on Facebook.
Facebook Messenger,is likely to face a stiff competition with the offerings from Apple and Google as well as the Blackberry Messenger .
The company expressed in a blog post that"it isn't always easy for users to know whether a conventional email or a text will reach recipients the fastest, and whether they actually received a message. Facebook Messenger, the company said, addresses those issues by delivering messages through notifications and texts on phones, so friends are more likely to get them right away".
The service can be used to reach users that are either Facebook friends or listed in phone contacts.
Facebook has constantly refused that the confusion of its recent announcements and the company's chat releases, like video calling in partnership with Skype, were a feedback to Google's new social networking site Google+,
But the fact is simply hard to ignore that facebook is already threatened by Google+ growing to more than 25 million users in just a month,
